Butterfly Crush and the Dreamguides

A female song and dance duo overcome adversity and a Kings Cross cyber sex cult to win a song competition.

Butterfly Crush and the Dreamguides is an online Alternate Reality Game and a Feature Film, based on the novel, Dance Sisters, by Alan Clay.

The project is being mounted in two phases the first being an online game, which will provide an innovative digital distribution mechanism to build the audience for the feature film, to be shot and released in 2010.

We have been building the online properties for the Alternate Reality Game, including the social network for the Dreamguides Community and the Youtube channels for Butterfly Crush and the Dreamguides.

We have cast the roles of Moana, Pearl and the Group Leader and completed shooting the first series of podcasts (see photos). We will be casting the roles of Matt and the Manager of Butterfly Crush and you can find more information on the auditions page as these are announced.

We also still require a production designer. Check out the crew page for more details.

Moontan

Two street clowns get swept up in an occupation of New Zealand's last Victorian theatre, which brings them into a playful confrontation with the police.

Alan Clay's short film, Moontan, was shot in Wanganui, New Zealand, in October 2006. The 15 minute short film premiered at the 2007 Fringe Film Festival in Wellington, New Zealand, in July 2007 and has also screened at SPAA Fringe in Brisbane, the Australian Director's Conference in Sydney and in the market at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival in France and also at the Short Film Corner at the Cannes Film Festival.

On this site you can read news of the production, check out the synopsis and reviews of the book on which the film is based, read scene one of the script, or find information on the cast and production team.
